Change

The Talmud teaches that there are three things that can change the course of a person's life -

Teshuva
(correcting your mistakes between you and the Almighty, and between you and your fellow man),

Tefillah
(heartfelt prayer), and

Tzedakah
(acts of righteousness, charity).

I read:

"Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced yesterday that she will travel to the region tomorrow in an effort to hammer out an agreement on an international force to help curb the violence."

This international force will have about as much success as handing out umbrellas in a bombing raid. If Israel will continue to let their God and their guns do the talking an 'international force' will certainly not be necessary. Oh and I would substitute the word violence with WAR.

VOA News - Bush, Putin Differ Over Israeli Attacks

Well, of course they differ. Russia is Gog and Magog of Ezekiel 38-39. The events unfolding are leading to the eventual alliance of Russia with the enemies of Israel.

Morning News

"Speaking for Israel's closest ally, United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says: "It is extremely important that Israel exercise restraint in its acts of self-defence."

I have yet to make coffee and I am appalled to read in the The Toronto Star that our esteemed Ms. Rice has put her best strategy for Israel forward with such utter nonsense.

Yeah.

Right.

Exercise restraint. . .ummm.

So, the beat this world, which thankfully is firmly in God's unshakable hands, goes on.

Letter to the President

Dear Mr. President,

Although I have no expectation that this email will cross your desk, I feel strongly that I should write to express my views about the escalating military action in Israel, Gaza, and Lebanon. I feel strongly that you must support Israel by any means necessary. By support, I do not mean that you should just sit back and wait until Hezbollah and Hamas decides to stop crossing Israeli borders and kidnapping soldiers, firing missiles and killing Israelis, then we will talk Israel into backing off. I know that you do not believe for an instant that these incidences, first from Gaza, now from Lebanon were detached. These were well coordinated maneuvers by terrorists.

Mr. President, I believe that you are a man who knows God and has experienced His salvation through Jesus Christ and know well that Israel is in the keeping of a far greater power than any on this Earth. Knowing this, it is my hope that you do not neglect the knowledge that the nation that stands beside Israel will come away from every dark hour triumphant. To those that would hurt Israel:

For thus says the LORD of hosts: "He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. Zechariah 2:8

From my heart I ask that you seek council from Christians who are firmly rooted in the support of Israel. You will not be popular among of the Secular Humanists who seek to eradicate the name of God from every aspect of our nation as well as other nations of the world, fueled primarily by Islamic Fundamentalism and its terror machine. In my opinion, your popularity among moderates and liberals, the left and right are not at issue here. The issue is Israel's right to exist and to defend her borders. She needs the steadfast, very public support of The President of the United States.

Our country does not need another yes man who at every turn bows to the "road map to peace" which is fruitless in that Israel is surrounded by terrorists bent on destroying her and the "way of diplomacy" which can never work when you have Islamic Diplomats who are terrorists themselves. I cannot help but think of Hitler and his Holocaust. Is this road being travelled yet again? I believe it is.

The United States needs a real man of God who is fearless in the face of evil and will stand for what is right. I pray that you are that man and I know that many of my fellow countryman pray for this as well. I remember very well the look on your face when the towers fell and the Pentagon was on fire. Israel is in need. Are you still that man?

Praying for you always,

James Chapter 5

I like this chapter very much.
A Man Healed at the Pool of Bethesda

1After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, *Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, *waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?"
7 The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me."
8 Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.
And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed."
11 He answered them, "He who made me well said to me, 'Take up your bed and walk.'"
12 Then they asked him, "Who is the Man who said to you, 'Take up your bed and walk'?" 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him,
"See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."
15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

Honor the Father and the Son

16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, *and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working."
18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. 19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. 22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Life and Judgment Are Through the Son

24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. 30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

The Fourfold Witness

31 "If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true. 32 There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true. 33 You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34 Yet I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. 35 He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light. 36 But I have a greater witness than John's; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish--the very works that I do--bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. 37 And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. 39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
41 "I do not receive honor from men. 42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. 43 I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. 44 How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God? 45 Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you--Moses, in whom you trust. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"

This is one of my favorite Bible verses. It has a way of shoring up the part of me that sometimes wants to collapse. I think of this verse whenever I look at a photograph of my sons, see my mother or talk to my husband. God is unchanging in His will and desire for us to come to Him. He gave his Son so that we might be partakers of His glory. Allelujah! to the Lord God Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth!

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

Awaiting the Lord is a web log established to express the need for Christians to be ready for the coming of the Lord Jesus, especially as the times in which we live begin to concentrate on Israel. We also focus on the persecution of Christianity, Christianity's lack of support of Israel, the increasing apostasy within the church and the need for increased evangelism to the non-believer. This web log also zeros in on radical Islam and it's desire to establish a world-wide caliphate and finally, we attempt to bring it together and fit in within the framework of the signs of the times that Jesus expresses in Luke Chapter 21:7-36 and Biblical Prophesy as a whole. We do this by posting links to news articles that are not all from the mainstream media, by providing links to other websites that proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord of Lords and King of Kings and by occasionally providing the reader with our own commentary.

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

7 So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?”
8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore[b] do not go after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”
10 Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. 13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls.

The Destruction of Jerusalem

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

The Coming of the Son of Man

25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

The Parable of the Fig Tree

29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

The Importance of Watching

34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy[c] to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
37 And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet. 38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.
